Posted by the Weisdaddy. It's amazing how instantly the baby takes on a whole personality once you know what the sex is. I don't knock people who wait, but having experienced knowing at this point, I wouldn't trade it in for the later surprise. It's so amazing to be able to look at Lindsay's tummy now and know that my son is in there! When I talk to him now it'll be on a level of so much more intimacy. It's crazy cool to feel this way! As we've mentioned to most of our friends along this journey, we haven't had a single ounce of bias toward either gender from the start. We've both thought that either would be amazing, but we've had many theories, albeit all wives tales, about the baby being a girl. We had sort of come to expect it to be girl because of that, so it was kind of fun to be surprised by what was clearly a penis lol! It also puts to bed at least a dozen different wives tales.
Our experience at the ultrasound technician's office was probably the same as everyone else who has had one. Nurse Nazi tore Lindsay and I from each others side and took her in for a "measurement" phase. After finishing the visit, I didn't mind much that she had done that, but at the time it was a pretty bumming feeling as I just wanted to see our little guy and didn't want to leave Lindsay - she's my lobster :-) After seeing the heart beating though, it was just so amazing. I wanted to take some video of it with my iPhone, but Nurse Nazi continued her reign of terror by putting the kibosh on that one too. It's made me THAT much more excited for the 3D ultrasound though, as this ultrasound was fairly quick and sterile in it's approach. Nurse Nazi didn't exactly go out of her way to be warm and enthusiastic about our experience, she just got her info, gave us a quick show of the parts, and that was that. The 3D ultrasound experience is supposedly the exact opposite of that approach, which makes sense. They have everything from mood lighting and music, comfy exam rooms, enthusiastic staff, and they make video's showing the baby moving in the tummy and give you larger, cleaner, digital pictures.
This officially knocks off about half of our baby names that we were considering. It's a shame though, as we were really getting pumped about some of the girl names we liked, for example, Sienna, Felicity, August. We're excited to compile the boy names though and see what jumps out. That little item will be left for the first time we see our boy though, but we might drop some hints about our short-list along the way :-)
That's it for now, our next ultrasound is in about eight weeks time, and I think Lindsay will have had her family baby shower before that time. We're eager to get cracking on our nursery at some point too when we have some time, it'll be great knowing it's a boy now so that we can make some accents to the decor. YAY! :-)
